I'd like to honor and pay tribute to all the men who served on Hancock's Flight and Hangar decks. From the Red Shirts, Green Shirts, Yellow Shirts and Blue Shirts, and all the others that the Yeoman forgot,  including the Pilots of all Squadrons.. Let me say to you, "Job Well Done Sailor and keep 'er always pointed into the Wind! We are trying to represent all the Crew here.

Many of these brave men did not come home.  Many still continue to give their lives for their country.  These are America's unsung heros.  Let us never forget those who give their lives in the performance of their duty.  Flight deck duty is one of the most dangerous duties in the Navy, and often, a thankless job, too. I wish to remind all who come here of this fact! ~ Jake

Memorial to those Lost at Sea

 A Poem by LCDR Garvey

I stood watch on the Bridge many times during the two years I served on Hancock. From the Bridge I could watch all the action. It was quite a great feeling to be up there, and right on top of it all. I stood many Captain's Phone Talker Watches there. I watched all these aircraft being launched and retrieved. To keep the Hancock's memory alive, it also behooves me to keep the aircraft and Squadrons alive as well. Therefore, I will note each Squadron from CAG-21, here next to the aircraft they supported and deployed on the 'Fighting Hannah'.

This is the whole purpose of an aircraft carrier, and I was happy and proud to be a part of Naval Air on the USS Hancock (CVA-19).

CAG-21 (Carrier Air Group 21) was embarked on Hancock most WestPac Cruises during and before the Vietnam War. Also known as GC CVG-21 and GC CVW-21. During WestPac '63, CAG-21 was commanded by CDR A. D. Geiger, CARAIRGRU 21.

We need more pictures for the Post-war through Vietnam War periods
1954 - 1975!
