The Rick Roberts, GMT3, USN Citation

Presented to Richard E. Roberts, GMT3, W-Division, USN (Ret)

CITATION:

This award is presented to you for your outstanding contribution of your article, "I Remember you USS Hancock CVA-19..." which, in very few words, described the deeply felt and emotional sentiments of life aboard the "Fighting Hannah." So good, in fact, that the Yeoman felt a "Special Award" should be given, and therefore, this award, the "Special Recognition and Achievement Award of Excellence" is presented to you, for helping all of us find our deeper sensibilities regarding our true feelings about the Hancock. Few find such eloquent words to describe their inner feelings as well as you have.

Aside from Pictures, life on a Naval Vessel, and more particularly on the "Fighting Hannah" has been best chronicled via personal Oral History and stories written by fellow shipmates. Your gift to the USS Hancock CV/CVA-19 Memorial is noteworthy and received with gratitude by the Admin Department, and the Crew at large.

Such addition to the Memorial has helped in making a visit to this website a memorable and rewarding experience for all, and has aided this website in maintaining it's standing as a Premier Naval History Website on the Internet. Job well done, sailor!
