My Aspirations

In 1962, the only aspirations I had at the time was to go active duty with the Navy Reserve, which I joined the summer before (1961). I had always wanted to go to sea though my dad would have liked me to join the Marines. I had to do wha I wanted to do. A person's aspirations change as life changes and as one grows first, more matue, and then later as one grows older. I believe that Aspirations is a word that is as changeable as is life and everything around us.

When I was in my twenties, my aspirations was to meet a nice woman and have a family. Children and a Home became my Aspiration of the moment. Then making my way in the Work world became the next one. But behind all the accumulated Apirations, the idea of an Eternal Family became the most important aspiration of all. See My Faith for a deeper understanding of this Aspiration.

It seems as one ages, the importance of spiritual things becomes greater. When young, the finite understanding is limited; one's scope is narrow, and spiritual matters are not as important. Remember the young think they will remain that way forever. In essence, that is a true concept, but not while in mortality. The young never consider that they may one day grow old, become feeble and die. So youthful aspirations are basically about having fun and feeling good. This is why the drug culture has grown so strongly in our times.

I, on the other hand I believe was spiritual from my earlies days. I guess I have my father to thank for that, so my quest for Spiritual True was always one of my stronger Aspirations - it was then - it still is.

Today, at my current age, my aspirations are for finding a peaceful existance in my declining years, and easing myself into old age, wth as little friction as is possible. That means living well, so sickness and disease can be avoided for as long as possible, so my Aspirations today is to find that peaceful place to live and where I can grow old very gracefully, and happily have the time to ply my interests in gardening, fishing and canning. I believe I've found that Peaceful place in the Woods of Tennessee...

Situated on 8 acres and way back from the road - over 1500 feet, you can find several nice building sites. There is a "Temporary Home" on the land - a mobile - which will house me until I can put up something more substantial, and where I can live out my days in the peace that I crave, away from the cities and the noise and pollution. My garden site will lay nicely in the sunshine of these woods, in a clearing not far from the site..

So as new environs have come into my life, new Aspirations... Gardening, Fishing and just 'kick'n back' and enjoying this new Chapter in my life.
