Scenes all Hancock Sailors remember well
This Site is dedicated to the memory of those who gave their lives to preserve the ideals that we all hold so dear. Freedom is not Free. If we fail to protect and preserve it, we could lose it.
Shipmates take Notice!
If you were Ship's Company and own a Cruise Book, please check your "In Memoriam" Pages for our lost shipmates. The Yeoman wants to create "In Memoriam" Pages on this Website to Honor and remember these, our missing Shipmates.
A simple favor, a little extra work for you, but a lasting Remembrance to those who lost their lives is worth the effort. For examples of what the Yeoman plans, click the Memorial Links below. If our list is missing some from your Cruise Book, or if you have any to report contact the Yeoman. If you wish to upload a file to the Yeoman, tell him in the Email and he will give you instructions on how to accomplish the File Upload.
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Psalms 116:15
If it is Precious to the Lord, it certainly should be precious to us to keep their Memorials, that's what I am seeking to do, so lend a hand and help me out.
Thanks - Jake

Dear Visitor, due to the heavy content on this site, we are forced to use scrolling pages. We have also incorporated some frames in the Main Menu section. Most of the Galleries are loaded as whole Pages. The Yeoman hopes that this is not an inconvenience to the visitor. We want to give you the best that we can do, and this fashion facilitates the aim of our Site Mission:
"Together then, Together again"

For those who think our President's approach to dealing with Prisoners of War is not right Go Here, Here or Here The fact is, Islamist Extremists are just as evil and brutal as were the Japanese in WWII !! If you don't think so, you must have forgotten the Trade Towers of 9/11, The USS Cole or the Marine Barracks in Beirut ! More of our young Patriots were killed in these three atrocities than were killed in the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
Jake's Agenda is that we NEVER FORGET who we are and what we need to do, to keep ourselves Safe!

Now here this, now hear this... The Web Yeoman is happy to report that this Website is now available in its entirety on a CD-ROM, which is a wonderful way to preserve your memories for the future, for yourself and your progeny. The Yeoman can't promise that this Memorial will always be here. Time changes; we get older; we sometimes run out of money... we all know that the Universe is on a decline, all things cannot exist forever, and like the Hannah, this website too, must fade away, but if you capture your memories on a CD-ROM Disk, you will know that for now and for the remainder of your time on Planet Earth, you will have the Memories stored up on a CD-ROM that cannot fade, unless it is mistreated. This Website (and the CD-ROM) represent hundreds; even thousands of hours of work. You will own the privilege of benefitting from all the time and energy put into this website. For more information on how you can obtain your very own copy of the 'OFF-LINE CD-ROM' click the Jewel Case Cover - To Check if there are any New CD-ROM Updates, click on the CD-ROM Label....

Sailor, pass the Word!
Since it is our hope to serve the entire Veterans Community, and the keeping of Naval History, it remains incumbant upon us to Pass the Word.. that phrase was well known to those who served in ships of the United States Navy, so your Web Yeoman Jake needs to enlist you in the service of Naval History, by asking you to Pass the Word to your friends around the World, and invite them to come visit this site. It is through this means that we will keep the USS Hancock CV/CVA-19 alive for future generations through this site and others who have joined this cause (See our Chainlocker Page for a list of those 'Enlistees"). Please use the button included here to 'Pass the Word, and please allow me, your Yeoman to thank you in advance. -= Thanks!

The Hancock Association lost a very special member September 30, 2001. He was Reverend Monsignor James J. Doyle, Chaplain aboard Hannah 1944-46. The Association old-timers always refer to him as “The Padre.” He was named the Association's Chaplain and was honored by being made a Life member of the Association. He had been in ill health and in a nursing home for the past few years. He was able to attend the Association Reunion in Corpus Christi in 1996 and was in fine form here. We scheduled Mass every day during the Reunion, with the Padre conducting, of course, and it drew a large crowd every day. I don't know whether he was able to make the New York reunion or not, but he was unable to attend the one at San Diego last year. I have heard so much about him; I am glad I had the opportunity to meet him at the 1996 reunion. The nursing home called our member Stephen R. Mihalovic this morning to inform him of the death.
