Burial at Sea on April 9th, 1945
| On April 7, 1945, the ship experienced a Kamikaze attack on the ship. The attack left 29 dead and 34 missing - total 63 - and 82 wounded. The Burial At Sea service conducted by Chaplain Parker and Chaplain Doyle took place on 9 April 1945. These hallowed dead were committed to the sea with full honors. |
